I will be taking a bit of a hiatus for the next little while. Lots going on and the changes are a good thing. I will share more when I’m back full-time but for now here is a snippet of the project I’m working on for Fall 2010.

The Real Beauty Journey

Usually most of us feel at peace and our happiest when we’re on vacation whether it’s in front of a beautiful ocean or in another country exploring a foreign culture. Truly experiencing beauty at it’s very core.

What if we were privileged to encounter beauty in it’s purest form everyday?

On January 1, 2011 I’m starting my journey to seek out beauty in it’s real form. Not the air brushed photo of a popular model or obtaining the coveted iPhone (which I’m guilty of having). For 365 days I’m going to search out all forms of beauty and share my discoveries with you.

Beauty could be the generous woman I saw (who cared enough) bring the homeless man on the street a cup of coffee and timbits, could be the poem I heard a spoken words artist perform or a picture of a far away landscape that made my soul dance.

Why am I doing this? I’m doing this because I believe if we surround ourselves with honest beauty from the real world we’d be more apt at projecting that same humanity more often out to the universe. And also because we’ve lost something in today’s society. With the addiction to speed and the need to move at a fast pace it’s unfortunately taken over our lives leaving little or no time for the meaningful things we used to cherish. The one thing I’ve learned in my lifetime is that the little things in life matter the most.

That’s right, we are all so tired of working so hard and never feeling like it’s enough that we’ve decided to start a modern-day revolution, and sister super woman, you are invited!

It’s called the Summer of Self Love, and although none of us are going to run off and tie-dye our leather handbags anytime soon, I think we’d all like to stop working so hard and start enjoying more peace, love and happiness in our lives.

Each has created powerful processes and insights that help women break the patterns that keep them working so hard… you know, powering yourself through your life… trying to hold it all together… not getting too emotional… driving yourself until you’re exhausted.

What they’ve discovered is that what we all learned in college and in our climb up the ladders has prepared us to survive in a man’s world, in a man’s way. We weren’t taught how to thrive as a woman… so woman to woman, these women are offering the best of their wisdom to women around the world so that we can achieve and accomplish what we want, without exhausting ourselves in the process.

I dream of lightness, I dream of traveling to remote countries where the culture is rich and the people make you humble. I dream of creating an never-ending story of purpose inspired by all that is good in this world and evoking a chain of changes that result in pure and soulful happiness

Taking the cue from the many people who aspire me to be great, I’ve decided to map out my goals for 2010 and share them with you. I think that it’s critical to write them down and even more important to share them because it keeps you accountable and on track to be as successful as you can be. So here it goes, please feel free to share your thoughts and feedback.

Step 1, Gratitude (My List):

I’m grateful for…

• My family who are always by my side.
• My amazing friends.
• My past and what I’ve learned.
• My loving husband.
• My faith that the world is conspiring in my favour. Being a positive person makes a BIG impact on the way my life unfolds.
• The roof over my head.
• My health.
• Being surrounded by inspiring women who push me to new heights.
• The opportunities I have been presented with to take advantage of.
• My job that allows me to live well financially.
• Life, to enjoy and celebrate it everyday.
• Living in Canada and it’s multiculturalism and diversity.
• My passion, without it I would not be pursuing my business.
• The food I eat, others unfortunately do not get to eat a meal everyday.
• My freedom, the ability to do as I wish, when I wish.
• The people with HUGE hearts, without them this world would be a much darker place.
• My ability to learn, a never-ending process that makes me a better person everyday.
• My sight, without it I’d never know the beauty that exists in this world.
• My imagination, because without it I would not know what is possible.
• LOVE, that it exists in every little crevice and that it has the power to change the world.

Step 2, Setting My Intention/Theme for the Year:

2010 is the Year for Communication & Change

Step 3, Identifying My Goals (Clear, Specific & Measurable):

Business

• Create a 25% ROI, spread awareness for my work and draw additional traffic to my site through a successful “Honour Your Style” event which will represent the official launch of my business.
• Increase client base 25% each quarter this year.
• Strengthen Strategic Partnerships by hosting 4 Workshops this year.
• Start a Mastermind Group.
• Commence communicating style tips via video podcasts.
• Hire a Virtual Assistant.
• Make Faith Style more interactive. (Contests, Giveaways to get readers more engaged and posting comments, stories, etc…)
• Start writing my book idea.
• Partner with 3 like-minded clothing boutiques.

Wellness

• Committing to Hot Yoga twice a week.
• Indulge in hour-long walks on Saturday & Sunday.
• Reducing my chocolate intake by 50% while switching to 70% coca as a healthier alternative.
• Meditate 15 minutes daily.
• Journal 7 days a week.

Travel

• Take the long over due trip to Calgary to visit good friends and family.
• Make the long haul to one of my top 5 desired vacation spots (Indonesia, India, Nepal, Africa or Brazil)
• Make my plans for the Camino walk I plan to take for my 30th birthday.

Personal

• Read 24 books this year.
• Enroll and Complete 3 courses this year that are purely to ignite my creativity.
• Purchase my first home.
• Listen to music everyday as I work. It makes me feel great and puts a smile on my face so why the hell not?
• Volunteer my time with a charity that is close to my heart a few hours each month.
• Create a Legacy Project.
• Frame my vision/inspiration board.

Step 4, My Stop Doing List:

• Spending money on small local trips within Canada and the United States so that I can visit foreign soil that is culturally rich.
• Buying books until I finish reading the books in my library (with the exception of Danielle LaPorte and maybe a few others .
• Checking my emails as frequently as I do.
• Working 7 days a week. Friday is now my official day off.
• Having Twitter & Facebook open when I’m writing, I completely agree that it is a major distraction and therefore takes me twice as long to finish what I’ve started.

Style has been in my blood since I was a young girl, I dressed to suit my mood and my personality. I wore what made me happy and insisted on being different.

Authentic style is a look that is all your own. It is your way to express yourself through your own combination of tastes, desires, passions, inspirations and lifestyle. It’s unfortunate that in today’s world, many people are influenced by society, media, trends and celebrities and as a result all look the same! Part of my style process is embracing your essence and history. Everyone has a story, where you grew up, how your parents influenced you, what your budget was and now is and how you have evolved as a person over the years.

When your authentically styled you feel it in every bone in your body, you stand tall and feel exhilarated when you walk out your front door in the morning. By exposing yourself to all kinds of influences and dressing with an open mind, you will both discover new things that will inspire you to change and embrace the parts of yourself you already love. Building your Style (a.k.a Self) Confidence is good for your soul.

I’m not a certified image consultant and I did not go to school for it. Like I mentioned early image and style are two very distinct things. One I believe to be superficial and the other I deem to be authentic. I’m an expert in Style because it’s been the one constant in my life from a very early age, I went to school for Fashion to pursue my passion but like a lot of people I let society dictate the direction of my life and ended up in Marketing. Now I’m determined to do what makes me happy and what comes naturally to me and that is working with amazing women to bring out their true beauty in an authentic and inspiring way.

My only interest is being me.
